How Medical Intuition Actually Works

“Everything is energy, and everything is connected to everything else. The water in the ocean and the clouds in the sky. The trees and the animals. You, me, and the world around us. Everything comes from the same source and returns to it. Everything is one. Thoughts and feelings are energy as well, so everything we think and feel has an influence on everything and everyone on this planet. In this way, we create our own reality, because mind rules over matter.” (Hans Andeweg)

Your physical body exists in the world of matter, but a subtler aspect of you, woven within and throughout your physical body, moves and interacts on a level of pure energy. In fact, you have a network of 7 energy centers spanning from the top of your head down to the bottom of your toes that service different parts of the body and are known as chakras. This energy system is responsible for your feelings of health, balance, and vitality, not just on a physical level but also on a mental, emotional, and spiritual level as well.

The invisible force that runs through this system is referred to as chi, ki, prana, or vital energy, and is the driving life force and animating power for the universe and everything in it, including your body. It surrounds you, permeates you, sustains you, and connects you to all things. Everyone and everything has its own energy field, which is both part of the larger, universal field, and in some ways separate from it. You may think that this intangible force can only be perceived by a few gifted people, however that is not the case. You experience it daily, such as when you walk into a room and instantly do not like the way it feels or when you feel a deep sense of peace in a forest.

“Quantum physicists discovered that physical atoms are made up of vortices of energy that are constantly spinning and vibrating, each one radiating its own unique energy signature. Therefore, if we really want to observe ourselves and find out what we are, we are really beings of energy and vibration, radiating our own unique energy signature -this is fact and is what quantum physics has shown us time and time again. We are much more than what we perceive ourselves to be, and it’s time we begin to see ourselves in that light.” (Arjun Walia)

When your personal energy is flowing properly you will experience feelings of complete well-being, being in-sync with your life purpose, positivity, and possess self-healing power to overcome external influences such as a polluted environment, infection, or injury. On the flip side, one of the root causes of disease is blocked energy in the body. When enough energy collects in a specific pattern, physiological changes begin to occur. Imagine a beaver who slowly builds her dam wall in a river, over time completely stopping the natural flow of that river. Similarly, blocked energy unbalances your body's natural systems, putting your immune system and organs under pressure. As a result, sickness occurs.

One of the most common blockages to energy flow is emotion (“energy in motion”). Some revolutionary news: emotions are not the sole product of your brain, but are expressed, experienced, and stored throughout your entire body in places like organs, glands, cells, and tissues. Neuropharmacologist Dr. Candace Pert is famous for this discovery and she explains, “A feeling sparked in our mind-or body-will translate as a peptide being released somewhere. [Organs, tissues, skin, muscle and endocrine glands], they all have peptide receptors on them and can access and store emotional information. This means the emotional memory is stored in many places in the body, not just or even primarily, in the brain. You can access emotional memory anywhere in the peptide/receptor network, in any number of ways. I think unexpressed emotions are literally lodged in the body. The real true emotions that need to be expressed are in the body, trying to move up and be expressed and thereby integrated, made whole, and healed.”

Dr Masaru Emoto spent years studying how our intentions can alter the structure and energy of water, ultimately illustrating that human consciousness can directly alter the geometric shape and structure of water since both our thoughts and water are comprised of the same energy. He consistently observed beautiful crystals form after giving good words, playing beautiful music, and offering pure prayer to water. On the other hand, he observed disfigured crystals form from negative words, feelings, and harsh music. If thoughts can impact the matter of water, it makes sense that our thoughts can impact the matter of our physical bodies as well (which happen to be comprised of approx. 60% water).

“Thought is literally creative, both in the nonphysical realm, where it manifests instantly, and on the physical plane, where thoughts become reality if they are of sufficient frequency and strength over time. Belief -specifically, the belief that one is not limited - empowers thought. The combination of focused thought and a belief in oneself as unlimited is potent enough to move mountains.” (Robert Schwartz)

Through their highly developed intuitive skills, medical intuitives are actually able to uncover what specific emotions have become stuck as energetic congestion in the body and may be causing discomfort, imbalance, and even 'dis-ease' if not addressed for a long period of time. As Dr. Pert says, “By simply acknowledging emotions, they are expressed. In being expressed, emotions can be released, even old emotions stored in body memory.” Through working with a medical intuitive, you can begin to process these emotions and be on the path to healing. Humans have much greater power and control over their health than they may believe, and healing can often be as simple as changing your thoughts.

Like tuning into a radio station, because of an inherent energetic interconnectedness of everything in the universe, with the right intention and desire to be of service for the client, medical intuitives can tune their senses into a person’s energy field to gain information about the nature of their energy blocks and what will allow them to get back into balance. It has been suggested that the capacity to receive and process such information about another person is an innate ability that all humans possess and is arguably the most universal natural ability we possess, however most are not trained to utilize and strengthen it; medical intuitives are. Dr. Pert states, “Your body is your subconscious mind. Our physical body can be changed by the emotions we experience.” It has been estimated that 75-90% of all doctor visits are stress related, which clearly illustrates the strong mind-body connection. Medical intuitives can help to identify the nature of that “stress,” which is ultimately meant to helps us grow and evolve.

Because intuition does not fall into the world of logic and rational methods, scientific knowledge surrounding intuition has been small, but it is growing every day. In fact, there is now a large body of documented rigorous research on nonlocal intuitive perception (the knowledge or sense of something that cannot be explained by past or forgotten knowledge or by sensing environmental signal) that dates back more than seven decades, including a variety of experiments illustrating that it cannot be explained by flaws in experimental design or research methods, statistical techniques, chance or selective reporting of results (Hogarth, 2001). A meta-analysis of nine experiments that measured physiological responses occurring before a future event that could not otherwise be anticipated through any known inferential process, revealed statistically significant results in eight of the nine studies in over 1,000 subjects (Bem, 2011). There is compelling evidence to suggest the physical heart is coupled to a field of information not bound by the classical limits of time and space. This evidence comes from a rigorous experimental study that demonstrated that the heart receives and processes information about a future event before the event actually happens (McCraty, Atkinson, and Bradle, 2004).

The current Western medical system focuses on the biochemistry of cells, organs, and tissues, addressing symptoms in the moment and treating specific regions in the body like isolated parts of a machine. Drugs and surgery are two commonly used tools for treatment, and successful as they may be in conquering symptoms, little is done to explore the root of the problem. The field of medical intuition believes that there is an underlying emotional and energetic root that can be treated simultaneously along with the symptoms so that permanent healing can occur, and until we address that root, symptoms will continue to reoccur. On the other hand, energy medicine focuses on the energy field of the body that organizes and controls the growth and repair of cells, organs, and tissue, and gives people tools to get back into balance before having to resort to more invasive methods of treatment.

We are in an exciting time where more and more people, including traditional medical doctors, are speaking out about energy work and the role that it will play in the future. Christine Northrup, MD and author known for her New York Times bestselling books, sums up how energy medicine can inform and complement conventional medicine: “In the medicine of the future, as I envision it, working with the patient’s energy field will be the first intervention. Surgery will be a last resort. Drugs will be a last resort. They will still have their place, but shifting the energy patterns that caused the disease will be the first line of treatment. And before that, teaching people how to keep their energies in healthy patterns will be as much a part of physical hygiene as flossing or exercise.” Even Dr. Oz on Oprah stated, “As we get better at understanding how little we know about the body, we begin to realize that the next big frontier… in medicine is energy medicine. It’s not the mechanistic part of the joints moving. It’s not the chemistry of our body. It’s understanding for the first time how energy influences how we feel.”

According to master energy medicine practitioner Donna Eden, the reasons why people are increasingly using energy medicine are as follows:

  1. Balance the body’s energies before an invasive medical procedure, prepares the body for a healing outcome, leaves the patient more confident and relaxed, and makes the procedure more likely to succeed;

  2. Balance the body’s energies after an invasive medical procedure to minimize side effects and enhance recovery;

  3. Prevent or help overcome challenging illnesses;

  4. Energy Medicine is simple, pleasant, and non-invasive;

  5. The body’s energy fields can be restabilized on a regular basis through simple, cost-effective practices;

  6. Energy Medicine has no adverse side effects;

  7. Patients are increasingly asking for alternative preventative care and healing methods.

Medical intuitives offer their clients information about what they can do to heal themselves, live in harmony, experience more joy, and discover their true potential. Because this is an intuitive technique that taps into shared energy, this work can be done from anywhere in the world with as much accuracy as if the person was right beside you.
